Design Principles

Operate with Trust & Transparency

When working with clients, stakeholders, research participants, or teammates, I find that outlining all the details about what the research will look like, what the goals are, and what the team has learned instills trust and encourages collaboration.

Learn & Experiment on Repeat

Testing design concepts of all fidelity levels with end users has been key to understanding if we are on the right path. I like to test and experiment throughout the process to make sure we are bringing real value to the groups we are designing for, and test things out in real world scenarios.

Share Design with Others Around You

Design and research are not meant to be kept to a select few; they can be taught to and shared with others, especially those with lived experiences we are trying to support most. I like to share methods with cross-functional teams and encourage others to design with us.

Identify & Share Impact with Others

Understanding the impact of design and specific insights and findings can sometimes come late in the process. Knowing upfront what we want to learn and how we plan to measure impact over time has helped keep work grounded and keep team members in the loop.
